Wet Wet Wet Bah

I know, it has been raining all over every where eastern Australia.

The current job means getting in and out more than a coupla times per run. Delivery runs.

So I don’t actually get wet, just sort of…dampish. The big rear door helps a lot!

Enough that body heat and dampish tee shirt/hair means that the defogger has to be on. Because I seem to instantly steam the van front window up as soon as the door shuts.

And it is already warm outside. And wet too. And the defogger is warm air… Bah. Poor old van runs the defogger AND the air conditioner and also has to put up with someone that forgets 5th  gear is NOT 3rd gear.

At least I am not in the rain in the desert as an oil seeking geologist where, once it is wet outside, means 4 inches of clayey mud is stomped in all over the place in the mudlogging unit or wireline truck- for days…

Makes a depressing workplace, as that job means collecting a sample either every 5 minutes, in the rain, and  if you are lucky, trudging along makeshift boardwalks hoping not to slide off into the mud, or putting up with visitors that need a ciggy out of the rain- and don’t bother to wipe their boots, as it is not required… The floor is already lost under the crap. It takes a bit of elbow grease to spit shine it up afterwards.

Some fun is constructing a non-muddy walkway between the shack and the shakers, grabbing any old pallets and boards.

Or making fun of the drilling crew slaving away up there on the drill floor, in the rain, in the dark.

Some of the areas I used to work in around the country.
