The Desert Job

The Desert Job

Agenda October to November 2013

Started the desert job the other day.
First few days we were “exiled” back to Innamincka as there were few bed spaces. Dang, caught the AFL Grand Final though and had a few beers with an old mate that traveled up from Adelaide with me to do the Wellsite Geology work- a team of two, me on the night shift.

Liked the pub, but the Homestay was better. After three days on the road from Gippsland to central Australia, was good to lie down and rest after

Funny being back rigsite- small room, loud air-con whizzing and banging, People snoring or banging about. The smell of diesel in the morning, dust getting in the exposed face and making eyse and teeth grit in unison, sun glare hurting as you poke a nose out a door, the wee galley and food standards varying tween edible and nice.
